There is a car show and our first-ever August Scrapbook Workshop Weekend. Music is everywhere from the front veranda of French Lick Springs Hotel to the Atrium at West Baden Springs Hotel. Take Your Game to the Next Level
French Lick Resort Golf has the tools you need to sharpen your game. The Valley Links Golf Learning Center offers a variety of educational classes, tips and tricks to take your game to the next level.
Whether you are a novice or experienced golfer, our PGA professionals at the Learning Center are experts in everything. They do it all – golf lessons, fitting clubs, swing analysis and more.
Brush up on your game with one-on-one instruction by appointment. An Adult single session is $65, a series of sessions is $175; or bring your foursome to a clinic for $200. Golf 101 is FREE every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at noon. Junior lessons are also available.
Playing the game for a while? Then you know all golfers are not made equal. Because height, arm length, hand size and swing speed matter, consider having clubs fitted for you. Sessions are available by appointment seven days a week and can include fitting one club or your entire bag, with or without purchase. We have all of the latest technology to adjust all major brands.

Hagen’s Club House Restaurant
Where can you get everything from soup and sandwiches to filet mignon? Hagen’s Club House Restaurant, located at The Donald Ross Course at French Lick, is a scenic drive west on State Route 56. With its masculine décor, striking views and out of this world food, Hagen’s is open to resort guests and local residents alike.
While every dish is prepared with fresh ingredients by a skilled chef, there are a few must-haves when you visit Hagen’s. For a starter, the spinach dip served with pita points is to die for. The corn chowder, with its crisp creamy goodness, should not be missed. While the filet is phenomenal and cooked to your specifications, the barbeque ribs are a true culinary masterpiece.
The ribs are hand-rubbed with spices, slow cooked and then basted with Hagen’s own sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. The meat literally falls off the bone and melts in your mouth. Grilled, slightly crunchy with just the right amount of salt, the asparagus is the perfect complement to any entrée. Finally, make sure you save room for dessert. Unique to Hagen’s are fresh strawberries stuffed with cheesecake filling and dusted with graham cracker crumbs. Not only does this dessert taste amazing, it’s light and satisfying at the same time.
With a full bar and detailed wine list, Hagen’s is a great place to grab a drink. The scenery from the wrap-around veranda is picturesque and the perfect place to be at sunset. Hagen’s serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails daily with a moderately priced menu. The next time you visit the Spas at French Lick Resort you may notice some changes. From construction to new products and services, we’re shaking things up for the better!
The Spa at French Lick has renovated the old salon space into more treatment rooms. According to Kim Allen, Director of The Spas at French Lick Resort, 70% of the business at The Spa at French Lick is some form of massage service. From pre-natal to hot stone or the most popular, Swedish massage, the new treatment rooms will enable the spa to easily schedule and treat more guests. Also brand new at French Lick’s spa are oversized sunk-in tubs for enjoying a soak in the Pluto water that made the resort famous in the early twentieth century.
Like the rest of the spa, the four new rooms will be decorated in an elegant, yet relaxing style that enhances the overall spa experience. Rooms will exhibit original art pieces, luxurious curtains and rain glass. The increase in rooms includes an additional space to perform couples’ services.
The inventory of homeopathic cosmetics, organic salves and patches, plus jewelry is ever-expanding and shipped weekly. Pluto bath salts can even be purchased for home use. The Spas at French Lick Resort do a robust mailing business, sending products to guests throughout the Midwest and around the country. Both spas have added O.P.I. nail colors; and at The Spa at West Baden Babor Make-Up for brides and bridesmaids.

Nationally Recognized
Recognition on Condé Nast Traveler’s Top Spas List is an honor for any resort, but it’s an even greater accomplishment when a destination makes the list twice. That would be the case for French Lick Resort. This marks the second year in a row for the resort’s Spa at West Baden and the first for the Spa at French Lick.
The June 2012 issue features the Top 270 Spas in North America, Caribbean, Hawaii and at Sea. In its 22nd year, the survey results are derived from the magazine’s 2011 Readers’ Choice Survey. A questionnaire was available to all readers through a secure website. Nearly 29,000 people rated the spas’ facilities, staff and treatments. The full list of winners can be viewed on Condé Nast Traveler’s website.

Stevens plays a game of matchmaking every time a group of riders are saddling up to go out on the trails. He takes special care to match the temperament of the horse with the skill of the rider. He did let it slip that if you ask for the fastest horse in the barn, you will likely get one of the slowest. Safety is very important and something he takes very seriously.
Spend any time with him and you will quickly learn this isn’t just a job, it is his passion. “It’s something I love doing and I get a chance to share that with people.”
Fun facts:
1. There are 8 ½ miles of trails.
2. One wrangler can ride over 150 miles a week, which means they can ride 600 miles in a months’ time. They take guests out for trail rides that can last from 45 minutes up to 2 hours at a time!
3. The horses go through 3,000 bales of hay and 21 tons of grain per year.
4. Horses receive new “shoes” every 6 to 7 weeks.
5. In addition to trail rides, The Stables at French Lick also offers pony rides, carriage rides, chuckwagon dinners and more.
Yes ma’am” is a phrase you will hear quite often around the genuinely polite and always positive Doug Stevens. He’s a good-ole cowboy with a stable full of manners and enough charisma to put even the most skittish horse at ease.
Stevens has been around horses as long as he can remember. His family had ponies and he purchased his first horse, Cinnamon, at the age of 13. When most boys were out on the baseball field, Stevens was making 28 cents an hour working the pony rides out front of the French Lick Springs Hotel.
After high school and a short stint in a local factory, Stevens returned to the resort, this time as a full-fledged employee. He is now in his 32nd year with the resort and his 24th as the Stables Manager.
He is the chief caretaker for the 30 horses who call French Lick home 7 days a week, 365 days a year. That’s like having 30 kids all with different personalities and needs!
Good thing Stevens and his crew have their care down to a science. The 6 employee crew (11 during the summer) does all their own work onsite including veterinarian care, shoeing and training. Their days can start as early as 5am and go to midnight at times, especially if a horse is sick or injured.
Did you know it could take up to two years to get a horse “guest ready”? Stevens has a great relationship with a trainer in nearby Hardinsburg who lets him “try out” horses to see if they will be able to handle the transition to a trail horse. 7,000-8,000 guests visit The Stables at French Lick every year and 80% of them have never ridden a horse.
