West Baden Springs Hotel Wine Tasting
Experience a variety of wines and hors d’oeuvres when West Baden Springs Hotel presents a series of wine tasting occasions. The events include cooking demonstrations by West Baden Springs Hotel Chefs – in tandem with presentations by the house sommelier highlighting a different imported or domestic varietal each tasting.
Hosted by Assistant Food & Beverage Manager Derrick Miller and Sous Chef Ryan West, each event features five or so wines, both red and white, that are paired with interesting and sometimes unusual hors d’oeuvres. They expertly shuffle from one course to the next with genuine enthusiasm for the art and science of coupling superior wines with exotic hors d’oeuvres, like wild boar chops and blueberry compote with a dark berry and hint of roasted game petite sirah—for instance. The experience of ingredients skillfully combined to complement one another is palate-changing. Gathered in front of the Rookwood Pottery fireplace under the watchful eyes of Sprudel, this wine tasting event is also the opportunity to relive a little of the history that built this grand hotel.
