Psssssttt….don’t forget about the Activities Center.
Just a friendly reminder, because even guests who’ve visited French Lick Resort multiple times don’t even know about the Activities Center and what it’s all about. If you’re visiting the resort with your little ones during the current Spring Break season (or have a trip on the horizon this summer), read on for 7 things to know about the Activities Center:
Find It Front and Center
You’ll find the Activities Center in front of French Lick Springs Hotel, between the hotel’s main entrance and the front doors of the event center. If you’ve visited before and parked in the front parking lot by the highway, you may have walked past it without realizing — as a historic building (which used to be the golf course clubhouse in the early 1900s), it maintains that classic look.
This is the resort’s grand central station for kids’ activities, so children staying at West Baden Springs Hotel or Valley Tower can also stop by and enjoy it.
Rent Bikes Here
Your second clue about where the Activities Center is: look for the bikes outside.
Guests of any age can rent bikes here seasonally, and rentals are now up and running again. Get out and enjoy the early spring weather with traditional bikes. Or wheel around in a 2-seat, 4-seat or 6-seat surrey. (C’mon, you know they look fun…)
Activities Inside, and Beyond
Families can stop inside for coloring, seasonal crafts and more. All the craft and games on the round tables are free of charge. Premium crafts are also available for purchase, so the kids can tie-dye a shirt or make a stuffed buddy or sand art necklace to take home and remember their trip.
Also, the Activities Center always has a themed selfie hunt or scavenger hunt — always a hit with kids, since it allows them to roam the enormous French Lick Springs Hotel. Just stop by the Activities Center for a free clue sheet to get started. And if you’re visiting during the summer, pack the trunks and swimsuits for Dive-In Movies and weekend pool parties at the outdoor pool.
And if this springtime weather is calling your name, come by for some lawn games just outside the Activities Center on the hotel front lawn. Badminton, cornhole frisbee golf, soccer and Kan Jam are all free to play. You can also visit the Activities Center to check out a ball for the sand volleyball court (located behind the casino near Monon Street).
It’s Not the Bowling Alley/Arcade…But You’re in the Neighborhood
You will find a small game room inside the Activities Center. But a lot of folks come here thinking it’s the bowling alley and arcade. You’re warm, at least. It’s a short walk away, as Pluto’s Alley is located on the lower level of French Lick Springs Hotel.
Stay for a While, Too
Children’s drop-off services have returned at the Activities Center! If mom and dad want a little alone time to hit the casino or explore the resort, the kids can spend the afternoon playing to their heart’s content in a supervised setting. Session times vary slightly by season, so be sure to visit our website for the current offerings.
Oh, and you don’t have to a resort guest to take advantage of drop-off services — they’re available for the public as well.
Catch a Movie Here
Don’t forget about the kid-friendly movies offered free of charge. They’re offered Tuesday, Friday and Saturday right now during spring break season, and beyond that, you can catch them every Saturday. We moved up the start time to 7:00 p.m. to accommodate the little ones with earlier bedtimes, so this is a great way to wind down for the evening. And speaking of drop-off services, you can do a movie-only drop-off for $10.
Something for Every Season
Spring break, fall break, and the summer and winter holidays are all ideal times to visit with kids, since the Activities Center always offers up special programming for each season. Check out what they’ve got on tap for Spring Break season, which runs throughout March and into the first few weeks of April.
