You know that hotels are at the heart of our preservation story.
You might not know about another historic structure that’s found new life on our resort grounds.
You’ll find it by taking a drive or a hike up to The Stables at French Lick Resort. Right next to our existing horse barn, you’ll find a new addition. It’s freshly painted white with a modern look and feel. But like so many other buildings across our historic property, it has a long and slightly winding history.
Welcome into the Event Barn at The Stables, which has undergone a change of location and a modern facelift to become the newest spot at French Lick Resort to accommodate larger group functions.
The barn was believed to be constructed in the mid-1800s — not far from the same period French Lick Springs Hotel was first established in 1845 and West Baden Springs Hotel got its start in 1855. It was originally located on private property near Springville, Indiana, about 40 miles away in Lawrence County.

Around here we’re in the business of breathing life back into historic buildings. So rather than lose this old barn to time, we gave it some TLC and a second chance. The barn was disassembled on its old site and transported here to rural Orange County. Pieces of the original were used in the construction of our new Event Barn, which can host up to 250 guests for lunches and dinners, receptions, meetings and other group events.

Located next to the horse barns and the outdoor Stables Pavilion, the Event Barn offers another beautiful event setting with spectacular views. Imagine watching a sunset or simply taking in the peaceful countryside here after an afternoon of horseback riding through the Hoosier National Forest.
